A sophisticated blend of wood spice notes, such as grilled pineapple, cherry fruit, pineal, and smoked cedar, is counterbalanced with traces of orange zest and dark chocolate. Sweetened with a hint of marzipan, peppermint, and malt. A drizzle of dark chocolate over toasted almonds, hazelnuts, and malty shortbread, with a palate-stirring combination of nutmeg, leather, and cedar. The Woodford Reserve Distillery is situated on the site of an earlier distillery that was established in the 1800s by Elijah and Oscar Pepper, their son. Years later, their distillery underwent a transformation and modernization while producing whiskey in the United States, revolutionizing the ideas of sour mash and yeast propagation under the direction of Oscar and Master Distiller James Crow.

Currently, it is one of the smallest and oldest bourbon distilleries in Kentucky.
