About Tears of Llorona No. 3 Extra Añejo Tequila
Tears of Llorona No. 3 Extra Añejo Tequila is handmade from 100% blue agave grown in the volcanic soil surrounding Atotonilco, in the highlands of Jalisco, where development is exceptionally sluggish. Originally meant to be German Gonzalez’s personal private stock. Gonzalez uses his years of experience and unique knowledge that he inherited from his father to choose these agaves toward the end of the harvest, when they are at their ripest. After being gathered, Gonzalez transports the agaves to his distillery, where they are traditionally roasted and then shredded to extract the sugar-rich liquid known as aguamiel. After using a special strain of yeast for fermentation, the aguamiel is twice-distilled using copper pot stills.
Once distilled, tears of la llorona No. 3 Extra Añejo Tequila is aged for almost five years in a variety of barrels, half of which are ex-Scotch whisky barrels, a quarter of which are Sherry casks, and a quarter of which are French Limousin barrels that were once used to mature Cognac. Finally, the barrels are blended together at the ideal maturity.
Tears of Llorona Tequila opens with a nose of apples, vanilla, honeysuckle, and black cherries. On the palate, it tastes like chocolate, caramel, and crème brûlée. With hints of cinnamon and cloves counterbalanced by sweeter notes of raisins, caramel, and oak, the finish is delicate and spicy.
Men’s Journal described Tears of-Llorona as “a sophisticated tequila suitable for sipping, akin to a premium scotch or cognac.”

About tears of llorona extra añejo tequila
Master Tequilero Germán Gonzalez received his tequila-making knowledge from his father, Guillermo Gonzalez Diaz Lombardo, who is widely credited with introducing Chinaco, the country’s first ultra-premium tequila, to the market. Guillermo served as the head of Mexico’s Department of Agriculture, and if you go any farther back in the Gonzalez family’s lineage, you will ultimately come across General Manuel Gonzalez, who presided over Mexico as president from 1880 to 1884. With his production of Tears of-Llorona No. 3 Extra Añejo Tequila, Germán is continuing the tradition of many Gonzalez generations into the future.
