Notes on Tasting

The captivating scent of 2022 Very Rare is fruit-forward, with charred wood, chocolate, toffee, nutmeg, white pepper, and flavors of mandarin and candid apple quickly taking their place. With hints of orange zest, caramelized apples, pot still spices, and cereal, the taste is rich and sweet. Pot-still spices and charred wood caress your taste senses in the seemingly endless finish.

“I started a distillery because of my family’s history,” says Ryan Lang, Middle West Spirits’ master distiller. “There’s four generations of distillers blood in my veins, although I might be the first generation to do this legally.” Middle West Spirits was established in 2008 by Lang and his business partner, marketing whiz Brady Konya, and is located in a 10,000 square foot warehouse in the center of the Ohio River Valley.
