Jefferson’s Ocean Aged at Sea Voyage 26 Double Barrel Rye Whiskey

Jefferson’s Bourbon offers a large selection of quality whiskeys, but they are perhaps most known for their Voyages collection, which consists of a number of dark, savory bourbons that have been aged beyond their years on a yacht that travels the world several times.

The 26th journey in Jefferson Ocean Aged at Sea Double Barrel Rye series. Additionally, it’s unique because it’s the first time a rye whiskey has finished it. The first ultra-premium rye to be matured at sea is this one. In order to achieve a combination of toffee, marshmallow, leather, and tobacco notes, this whiskey spent its time at sea in both new char and toasted casks prior to its trip whiskey increasing its interaction.

This allowed it to blend the robust rye characteristics with the rich caramelization that comes from ocean aged at sea bourbon. Rich caramel flavors with a hint of sea spray are the consequence of the special maturing at sea. Notes on Tasting

The nose is greeted by scents of spice, maple syrup, and toasted marshmallow. With notes of tobacco, vanilla, toffee, and leather, the palate is robust. On the gratifyingly lengthy finish, look for pronounced baking spices, cinnamon, and a hint of sea spray.

Concerning Jefferson’s rey

One of the most prominent founding fathers and the primary author of the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson was chosen to serve as the third President of the United States in 1800. During his presidency, Jefferson removed the Whiskey Excise Tax, sent Lewis and Clark west to explore the rest of the continent, and approved the purchase of the Louisiana Territory.

Jefferson frequently cared for the garden he had planted at his Monticello residence after he left public office in 1815. Jefferson and other affluent farmers at the time were known to produce their own garden spirits. Every farmer had a distinct character that represented both their individual preferences and the geographical terroir of their land. In remembrance of Jefferson and his inventiveness, Chet and Trey Zoeller created Jefferson’s Reserve Very Old Straight Bourbon Whiskey. Although Jefferson served as an inspiration for the Zoellers, their origins go back many generations into Kentucky’s bourbon history.
