Jefferson’s Grand Selection Chateau Suduiraut Sauternes Cask Finish
In the innovative spirit of aging Jefferson’s whiskeys in truly innovative methods and in diverse cask types, they have mixed the sweetness of the Chateau Suduiraut wine and the toasted staves of those French oak wine casks with their well seasoned, rich Kentucky Straight Bourbon. The Jefferson’s Grand Selection Chateau Suduiraut Sauternes Cask was the result of this.
They have produced a unique bourbon that is rich of taste and character after carefully choosing forty Suduiraut barrels, filling them with Jefferson’s Reserve whiskey, and further maturing them in a special “hot box” setting. This expression creates a wonderful, sophisticated, and well-balanced end result by fusing the grain of quality bourbon, the sweetness of Sauternes, and the wood notes of both American and French oak.

Notes on Tasting
The nose has notes of citrus, flowers, and honey. The palate is flavored with citrus, burnt sugar, cinnamon, caramel, and lemon zest. The aftertaste strikes a remarkable harmony with the bourbon’s flavors.
Concerning Jefferson’s whiskey
One of the most prominent founding fathers and the primary author of the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson was chosen to serve as the third President of the United States in 1800. During his presidency, Jefferson removed the Whiskey Excise Tax, sent Lewis and Clark west to explore the rest of the continent, and approved the purchase of the Louisiana Territory.
Jefferson frequently cared for the garden he had planted at his Monticello residence after he left public office in 1815. Jefferson and other affluent farmers at the time were known to produce their own garden spirits. Every farmer had a distinct character that represented both their individual preferences and the geographical terroir of their land. In remembrance of Jefferson and his inventiveness, Chet and Trey Zoeller created Jefferson’s Reserve Very Old Straight Bourbon Whiskey. Although Jefferson served as an inspiration for the Zoellers, their origins go back many generations into Kentucky’s bourbon history.
