Developed by master blender Shingo Torii and chief blender Shinji Fukuyo, Hibiki Japanese harmony is a meticulous blend made from over 12 distinct grain and malt whiskies produced at Sutnory’s Yamazaki, Hakushu, and Chita distilleries. The blend is made up of five main styles: malt whiskies aged in American oak, sherry, and Mizunara (Japanese oak) casks; a smoky malt whisky that adds a subtle complexity to the blend; and Chita grain whiskey, which acts as the “broth.”

“Hibiki Japanese harmony distillery Whisky is a blend that is both pure and complex, reflecting the delicate nature and expert craftsmanship of the Japanese,” Suntory states. “This whisky’s taste transparency enables all of its complexities to be revealed at once.”

Hibiki Japanese Harmony Whisky has a slightly floral scent with apricot, orange blossom, marmalade, and clove notes due to the skillful blending. A lengthy, complex finish including malt chocolate, oak, pepper, candied apples, and a faint trace of smoke follows a dry palate full of raisins, honey, pear, and cinnamon malt and grain whiskies.

Shinjiro Torii established a shop dealing in imported wines in Osaka, Japan, in February 1899. Torii started making his own sweet grape wine, Akadama Port Wine, within ten years, and it quickly gained national acclaim. Having always been interested in whisky, Torri made the decision to grow his company in 1923 and started building Japan’s first whisky distillery, the Yamazaki Distillery hibiki whiskey near me.

Keizo Saji carried on his father’s idea and built Suntory’s second distillery fifty years after Yamazaki Distillery was built. The Hakushu Distillery, which is surrounded by around 6,000 different plant species and granite boulders that date back thousands of years, has a unique microclimate in the deep forests of Mount Kaikomagatake in the southern Alps of Japan.
