In the center of Dublin, Ireland, the Mitchell & Sons Wine Merchants Company was founded in 1805. At the beginning of the 1800s, the Mitchells marketed a variety of Irish whiskeys under the brand name “Spot.” The company’s habit of applying a spot of colorful paint to casks of varying ages gave rise to its term. Mitchell & Sons consequently offered whiskeys under the names Blue Spot, Yellow Spot, and Red Spot, however their best-selling brand was Green Spot.

Malted and unmalted barley are ground, crushed, and then distilled using a conventional pot still to create the whiskey.
