Booker’s Bourbon The Master Distillers Batch 2024-03
We have named this batch after a group of distillers we highly respect. Their efforts in the late 1980s and early 1990s helped rekindle America’s passion for bourbon and helped shape the current state of the business.
Notes on Tasting
Deep Amber in color
Flavor: Strong
Aroma: Spices and Vanilla
Finish: Prolonged, Pleasurable
Legends like my dad, Booker Noe, and some of his contemporaries from other distilleries at the time comprised this group. These men, who we refer to as “elder statesmen,” cleared the path for Master Distillers to be acknowledged for their work. They were even admitted into the Bourbon Hall of Fame as the inaugural class. Once, I was with my dad when everyone gathered for a festival in Chicago.
At the bar where we were catching up, the majority of the patrons thought we were just six strangers sipping bourbon. “You’ve got bourbon royalty in here,” someone told the bartender after pointing us out. We all lifted our glasses and laughed. Even while it’s true enough now, things weren’t always this way.
Being a Master Distiller used to only entail managing the distillery. All of that was altered by these senior statesmen, who raised the standard for everyone. The work evolved from working in the distillery all day to touring the globe and introducing others to our cherished bourbon. They became become independent celebrities and spokespeople. They were responsible for the job’s size. These individuals have always been role models for me. They helped me develop my appreciation and respect for all the elements that go into making outstanding whiskey. I’m honored to commemorate them with this batch and to continue in their footsteps.
NOTES FROM A MASTER DISTILLER
To celebrate the folks who influenced my career and the bourbon industry, the third Booker’s batch of 2024 is named The Master Distillers Batch.
This Booker’s Bourbon The Master has been aged in the new white oak barrels for more than seven years, giving it a deep amber color. The aromatic aroma of spices and vanilla leaves you wanting more of the flavor you’ve come to expect from Booker’s. The finish is long and delicious, and the taste is huge and strong, as all Booker’s batches should be.
I can imagine Dad and his former coworkers enjoying this batch and telling each other stories when they sit about.
The two production dates that make up the batch are kept in four separate aging warehouses. It is 130.3 proof and 7 years, 8 months, and 7 days old. Actually, a large portion of this batch was made on December 7, 2016, Dad’s birthday. The following is a breakdown of Booker’s “Master Distillers Batch” barrel storage:
The sixth floor of the seven-story warehouse Z accounted for 10%.
The sixth floor of the seven-story warehouse 1 accounted for 11%.
The sixth floor of the seven-story warehouse 3 accounted for 42%.
The third floor of the nine-story warehouse J accounted for 37%.
