The Prisoner is a partnership between California’s The Prisoner Wine Company and Bardstown bourbon festival Company. They aged their 9-year-old Tennessee Bourbon for a further 18 months in French oak barrels that formerly held The Prisoner red wine. The mash bill for this whiskey was composed of 84% corn, 8% rye, and 8% malted barley. Similar collaborations are nothing new for Bardstown Ky bourbon Company, but this is their largest to date. The philosophy of The Prisoner Wine Company is based on teamwork. The Prisoner Wine Co.’s Director of Winemaking Chrissy Wittmann says, “We try to do things differently, and it’s exciting that our namesake wine will add to the mystique of this new blend of bourbon makers.”
