Ardbeg Hypernova Single Malt Scotch Whisky
The distillery’s peatiest, smokiest malt to date is Ardberg’s Hypernova. How peaty is the peatiest, though? The maltsters on the Isle of Islay were unable to meet the absurd requirements for this expression, which is 170 ppm, or parts per million, which stands for the phenol count in barley or, more accurately, the amount of peat smoke in the malt. Perhaps this information will help clarify the situation. Ardberg Hypernova was smoked using non-Islay peat only because it was not possible to smoke the peat on the island (transporting the peat from Islay to the masters on the mainland would be somewhat non-environmental).

Notes on Tasting
The scents of salt, seaweed, seashells, tobacco, ash, pepper, a hint of citrus, and grass come following the smokey beginning of Hypernova. Although there is some smoke on the palate, it is not overpowering because the whisky is well-rounded by the flavors of lemon, sea salt, charcoal, young oak, and creaminess.
Concerning Ardbeg scotch
Just over 3,000 people live on the island of Islay, which is the southernmost of the Inner Hebridean Scottish Isles and just 240 square miles in size. However, the island is one of only five distilling districts in Scotland that have legal protection for their identity.
The MacDougall family established Ardbeg Distillery in 1815, and it is located on the southern coast of Islay. The distillery, which employs about one-third of Islay’s workforce by 1886, is a reminder of Scottish culture and traditions.
