Dr. Bill Lumsden created this Islay single malt, which was released in time for Ardbeg Day 2023. Bottled at 100.4 proof, it is a deeper, more robust, and wild expression that was made without the use of Ardbeg’s purifier on the still.
Ardbeg Heavy Vapours Committee Release Single Malt Scotch Whisky
With just 3,000 residents, Islay is home to almost 140 committees, the largest of which is the Ardbeg Committee. The Ardbeg Committee, which has more than 120,000 members worldwide, celebrates Ardbeg whisky by releasing limited-edition whiskies. Dr. Bill Lumsden created Ardbeg Heavy Vapours for the yearly Ardbeg Day festivities in 2023. On the still, the single malt was made without the use of a purifier. When the purifier is used, Ardbeg’s characteristic smokey and floral fruit aromas come together harmoniously. A whisky without a purifier is bolder, aromatic, and darker. Heavy Vapours was bottled non-chill filtered at 100.4 proof after maturing in former Bourbon casks.

Notes on Tasting
Sea spray, earthy, fruity, and floral notes, together with a hint of citrus, are all present in the smoky nose. On the palate, peat blends with coastal aromas, culminating in a smoky finish with a hint of chocolate.
Concerning ardbeg scotch
Just over 3,000 people live on the island of Islay, which is the southernmost of the Inner Hebridean Scottish Isles and just 240 square miles in size. However, the island is one of only five distilling districts in Scotland that have legal protection for their identity.
The MacDougall family established Ardbeg Distillery in 1815, and it is located on the southern coast of Islay. The distillery, which employs about one-third of Islay’s workforce by 1886, is a reminder of Scottish culture and traditions.
