Yellowstone 2015 Limited Edition Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Yellowstone 2015 Limited Edition Kentucky Straight whiskey Whiskey has been hand-selected by Steve Beam, and is a marriage of 12-year-old high-rye whiskey and 7-year-old wheated/high-rye bourbons. The barrels are utilized again to complete the 7-year-old bourbons after the 12-year-old bourbon has been removed from them. Because of this, Yellowstone Bourbon has a strong flavor profile that includes rhubarb vanilla, oak, and freshly baked pie crust, along with a fragrance of figs, chocolate, and caramel corn. The finish is exceptionally smooth and rich, with notes of maple and strawberries.
Steve Beam adds, “Returning the Yellowstone brand to our family has been a dream for my brother Paul and me.” “The Beams and the Dants, two branches of our family, and their distilling heritage come together with this bourbon. Bringing Yellowstone home and starting to distill and bottle it at Limestone Branch was one of the primary reasons we teamed up with Luxco.

Concerning Yellowstone
Shortly after the creation of Yellowstone National Park in 1876, the Yellowstone Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey brand would come to prominence with a similarly fascinating backstory. J.B. Dant, legendary distiller and the son of J.W. Dant, first began distilling in the late 1800s, using a “log still” instead of the more popular — yet more expensive — copper pot stills. A log still is made by hollowing out a tree trunk and lining the interior with copper pipes, a cheaper yet still effective way of distilling.
In the early 1900s, Dant began to work more closely with M.C. Beam of the illustrious Beam family, and as his Yellowstone brand gained popularity in Kentucky, he was able to formalize his process and buy other nearby distilleries. This allowed Dant and Beam to operate their network of facilities as the Yellowstone Distillery and continue to produce Yellowstone Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey for “medicinal purposes” throughout Prohibition.
Despite going through several ownership changes during the 20th century (first to Diageo and then to Luxco), the Yellowstone brand eventually lost popularity. However, Luxco and the Beam family’s new Limestone Branch Distillery have recently brought the brand back to life by discovering an old Beam family recipe and working with Paul and Steve Beam to produce an amazing bourbon that honors the original.
