Concerning Rémy Martin Cognac
Established in 1724 by Rémy Martin xo night, a descendant of Charente winemakers, the fabled House of Rémy Martin is unquestionably entwined with the Charente regions. Some of the richest and most productive crus of Grande and Petite Champagne have come from this charming area of French terroir. Some of the most aromatic grapes are produced by these fine vineyards with chalky, pale soils.
Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies, Fins Bois, Bon Bois, and Bois Ordinaire are the six distinct crus (cru is the French word for growth zones) that make up the Cognac area of France, which is located on the banks of the Charente River. Known for its rich, chalky soil and peaceful hills, the Grande Champagne cru, which spans around 34,000 hectares, is thought to produce the best cognac in the area. The grapes are perfectly ripened by the terroirs’ optimal conditions, resulting in “an exhilarating bouquet of Fine Champagne.”
