Ole Smoky Blackberry Moonshine
The State of Tennessee changed its regulations in 2009, permitting the production of moonshine for the first time in more than a century. Joe Baker co-founded Ole Smoky in Tennessee, and since then, the company has produced hundreds of whiskies and a wide variety of 27 flavored moonshines.
The Ole Smoky family, who claim to be Appalachian by birth, was one of the first to enter the Smoky Mountains. They use age-old whiskey-making techniques to create their whiskeys. Baker quickly began creating a unique, mountain-made moonshine once Tennessee’s state legislation changed to allow for the distillation of spirits. This made Ole Smoky the first distillery in East Tennessee history to receive a federal license.
White Lightning, Moonshine Cherries, Blackberries, their world-famous “Apple Pie,” Strawberry, Peach, Lemon Drop, and their Original Unaged Corn Whiskey are all part of their lineup. They also provide unique and seasonal flavors. Bottled at 40 proof, this Appalachian Ole Smoky interpretation is a moonshine with blackberries that is delicious and extremely drinkable, akin to blackberry jam.
