Glenfiddich Grand Cru 23 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
William Grant started building the Glenfiddich Distillery in the Scottish province of Speyside in 1886 with the assistance of his nine children and one stonemason. On Christmas Day 1887, the distillery’s copper-pot stills released their first drop of whisky after a year of arduous work. The fifth generation of the Grant family is currently in charge of Glenfiddich Distillery, which is still guided by Grant’s enthusiasm, tenacity, and spirit of innovation.
The Glenfiddich The distillery’s 1963 release of the inaugural Glenfiddich Single Malt in the US served as the model for the Original 1963 Single Malt Scotch Whisky. In the United States, single malt scotch whisky was first recognized as a separate category in 1963 when it was referred to as straight malt. Labeled to honor the original whisky, the bottles in this feature are made according to the same formula and specs as the 1963 whisky.
Andy Nash, Scotch Whisky category director for William Grant & Sons USA, stated, “When you visit the distillery and witness all of the incredible things we’ve accomplished, one of the things we haven’t really discussed much is the role Glenfiddich played in creating the single malt category.” “It’s wonderful to actually go back into our archives and see all of those aspects and recreate them for a new audience now. Many people talk about it and give us credit for that. It demonstrates the groundbreaking work that Glenfiddich was doing in the 1960s and that we are still doing today.
This Grand Cru perfectly captures the essence of Glenfiddich single malt craftsmanship and grandeur. Sophisticatedly finished in rare French Cuvee casks, this special Glenfiddich expression has been aged for 23 years in American and European oak casks, resulting in the best blend of flavors from France and Scotland. Unexpectedly unconventional, but uniquely made.
