Garrison Brothers Cowboy Bourbon Barrel Proof Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Organic barley, wheat, and corn are used to make Garrison Brothers Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey. “We get about 30,000 pounds of corn, wheat and barley delivered a month,” states Garrison. “The wheat comes from our own fields — we have 65 acres of wheat on the other side of the property.” Additionally, the barley comes from the Pacific Northwest, while the maize is gathered from nearby regions in Texas.
Following the arrival of the grains at the distillery, they undergo a four-day fermentation process, after which the wash is distilled through an old copper pot still known as the copper cowgirl. “She was made as an experimental still,” Garrison explains, “for Wild Turkey Distillery.” The bourbon is then aged in charred American oak barrels, explaining that “the char softens the wood, and allows the bourbon to expand into the wood. When it gets hot — and it gets hot out here in Texas — that bourbon will soak deeply into the wood and extract the chemical compounds that are in there.”
Dan Garrison revealed a secret barrel stock that he had been keeping hidden at the distillery for a number of years in 2013. Dan decided to bottle these ten barrels as a special release called Garrison Brothers Cowboy Bourbon because he said they were the greatest he had ever tasted at Garrison Brothers Distillery. There were only 600 bottles of the uncut and unfiltered bourbon, which had an incredible 136 proof and received numerous awards right away, including Jim Murray’s “Micro Whisky of the Year” award. Garrison Brothers Distillery is now offering another Garrison Brothers Cowboy Bourbon, this time aged twice as long, with only 3,750 bottles accessible nationwide for the first time since 2013.
Garrison Brothers Cowboy Bourbon Barrel Proof Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey is the oldest bourbon ever made in Texas. It smells of caramel, caramelized sugar, and baking spices and has a vibrant mahogany hue. A silky finish accentuated by pipe tobacco, cornbread, and melted butter follows a palate full of warm aromas of peach cobbler, vanilla extract, and toasted almonds.

Concerning the Garrison Brothers
Garrison Brothers Distillery was established in 2005 and is located in the Texas Hill Country on a rolling property. The distillery is Texas’s oldest authorized whiskey distillery. “Like everything in the Lone Star State, our dreams were big from the start,” says the distillery’s proprietor, Dan Garrison. “Our goal was to create the greatest bourbon ever, not just any garrison brothers bourbon whiskey.”
