Four Roses Limited Edition Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Four roses distillery Kentucky Straight Bourbon rose to the top of the US bourbon market in the years after Prohibition. After Seagram’s acquired the distillery in 1943, Four Roses was shifted to the European and Asian markets, and ten years later, its Kentucky Straight Bourbon was withdrawn. The Kirin Brewery Company, Ltd. acquired them once more in February 2002, giving the Four Roses business new life and direction whiskey barrel for sale.
Four Roses Master Distiller Brent Elliot chooses a few barrels from their ten Bourbon recipes to be released as Limited Editions. These unique releases don’t have chill filters and are barrel strength. The result of a blend of casks is their 2017 Limited Edition Small Batch Bourbon. Elliot chose a 16-year-old OESK and 12-year-old bourbons from Four Roses’ OESO and OBSV formulas. He decided to use the OESO, a yeast strain with sweet vanilla notes and a mash bill of 75% maize, 20% rye, and 5% malted barley, as the blend’s foundation. It has a proof of 111.2 and is bottled at barrel strength.
The OBSV and OESK recipes’ more aged spice aromas counterbalance the recipe’s fruitiness. Rich apricot, crisp green apple, sweet cherry, and structured rye scents are all present in this superbly balanced small-batch blend. The palate begins with acidic citrus flavors and progresses to notes of peppery spices, sweet molasses, and rich crème brûlée. There are faint notes of honey and mild mint throughout the lengthy finish whiskey barrels for sale.
