Lincoln Henderson began working for Brown-Forman as a grain scientist after earning his degree from college and eventually rose to the position of Master Distiller. He developed new brands, including Woodford Reserve Bourbon, Jack Daniel Distillery “Gentleman Jack,” and Jack Daniel Distillery Single Barrel Whiskey, throughout his 40-year career with Brown-Forman. Henderson was in charge of technical distillery supervision, sensory evaluation, and quality control in addition to developing new products. “I never regretted a day when I had to report to work,” says Henderson, a first-ever inductee into the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame and recipient of the Malt Advocate Lifetime Achievement Award. angel’s envy distillery Louisville
Henderson opted to go alone and start Angel’s Envy Bourbon after leaving Brown-Forman. Henderson stated, “angel’s envy rye whiskey is a lot of things.” It is the labor of my life. It’s an unparalleled silky whiskey. It blends more than 400 years of port wine legacy with more than 200 years of bourbon heritage.” The phrase “angel’s share” refers to the part of whiskey that evaporates when it matures in wooden barrels, and this is where the name comes from. Henderson tasted the bourbon and figured the angels would prefer a thicker cut. Wes Henderson, his son, is currently in charge of the family business. angel’s envy downtown Louisville
