Approximately
One of Kentucky’s first bourbon aristocrats, John D. Willett, gave his sons-in-law, Thomas Moore and Benjamin Mattingly, ownership of the Willett & Frenke Distillery in 1876. Up until 1881, when Mattingly eventually sold his share of the business to a group of investors, Moore and Mattingly jointly ran the Willett & Frenke Distillery. In a few years, Thomas Moore renamed the distillery after himself and gained total control over it.
Before being compelled to lock his doors at the start of Prohibition, Moore would run the distillery for a further fifty years. Today, the Barton 1792 reserve bourbon Distillery operates on the same site as the old Tom Moore Distillery and continues to employ the same processes that Moore used over a century ago when making his own small batch 1792 bourbon single barrel . Following harvest, the grains are fermented and crushed before being distilled using a copper-pot still. The whisky 1792 bourbon is then matured on the distillery’s estate in Bardstown, Kentucky, using brand-new American oak barrels. 1792 small batch bourbon whiskey
